Wines chosen by Sam and the team, delivered to your door.
Sam’s love of wine began early, with a glass of Échezeaux Grand Cru at a friend’s family table at 16. Since then, Sam has travelled the world’s wine regions and made friends with many of the growers and winemakers behind the bottles.
Guests at our restaurants have long asked to buy the wines we pour, and to know what we’d recommend. Sam’s Wine Club is our answer. Every bottle is tasted and chosen by Sam and the team to ensure our recommendations live up to the wine lists our restaurants offer.
Here are our first two cases, just in time for Christmas. Perfect as a gift or to enjoy over the festive period.
Six honest, delicious wines for any night of the week: a sparkling, two whites, a rosé and two reds. They are all really good value, and none of them are wines you’ll find on the high street.
Highlights include a bone-dry Picpoul de Pinet from the Languedoc, a cracking match for seafood, and a Loire Valley Gamay full of bright fruit and gentle spice.
Every case of wine comes in a branded Sam’s gift box, with Sam’s own tasting notes inside.
Made the same way as Champagne, in what’s said to be the oldest sparkling wine region in France. It’s fresh, with apple and white blossom notes: perfect for opening on Christmas morning, at a fraction of the price of Champagne.
A benchmark Marlborough Sauvignon from one of the region’s pioneering families. Bright tropical fruit and citrus make it a crowd-pleaser with smoked salmon and seafood.
A bone-dry white from one of the Languedoc’s oldest grapes, grown near the Mediterranean. Zesty and mineral, it’s a cracking partner for oysters, prawns and the Christmas Eve seafood.
A classic pale Provence rosé with wild strawberry, white peach and a clean mineral finish. Serve it as an aperitif or with the Boxing Day buffet.
From a family who have made Loire wine for six generations. It’s juicy and peppery, with ripe cherry: a light red that’s lovely with cold cuts, charcuterie and the cheeseboard.
Organic Garnacha and Tempranillo from 40-year-old vines, picked at night. It’s full of juicy cherry and plum, a generous red for leftovers and relaxed evenings between Christmas and New Year.
This is the really good stuff: a Christmas wine case built for the table on the big day. There’s something sparkling to start, showstoppers for lunch, and something to finish by the fire.
Highlights include a Chablis Premier Cru that’s dangerously moreish, and a Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir made for a comfy armchair.
Every case of wine comes in a branded Sam’s gift box, with Sam’s own tasting notes inside.
From the house whose founder, Madame Pommery, created the first commercially successful Brut Champagne. White flowers, citrus and brioche make it the bottle to open as everyone arrives on Christmas Day.
From a family estate run for seven generations, made without oak so the chalky soils shine through. Steely and silky, with lemon and hazelnut, it’s ideal with Christmas starters, crab and smoked fish.
From steep slate slopes on the Mosel, farmed organically since 2007. Lime, apricot and honey are balanced by bright acidity, so it’s perfect with pâté, spiced dishes or the cheeseboard.
Hand-picked from the cool Russian River Valley and aged in French oak. Silky, with wild strawberry, black cherry and a savoury edge, it’s made for the turkey, duck or game.
Made only in the best vintages, from Tempranillo vines over 70 years old, and aged for six years before release. Black cherry, liquorice and Christmas spice make it a showstopper with roast lamb or beef.
From one of the oldest estates in the Médoc, dating back to the 17th century. It’s elegant, perfumed classic Margaux with redcurrant and a silky finish: the bottle for the Christmas roast beef, or by the fire.
