A selection of wines that I am currently really enjoying myself at home- my "house" wines if you like
2 x Picpoul ‘Sel et de Sable’ 2019
Piquepoul is one of the oldest grapes from the Languedoc. This wine has a bright straw yellow colour. Dry and refreshing and a distinctive mineral edge. Exceptional wine with oysters
2 x Viognier/Marsanne, Cuvee ‘M”, Chateau La Sable 2018
Made by friends of ours. Flavours of pear and notes of hazelnut. A very satisfying wine. Another wine that works really well with shellfish.
2 x Sauvignon Blanc, Organic, Deep Down, Marlborough 2019
One of the best New World Sauvignon Blancs I have tried for some time - in fact it made me fall in love with Sauvignon again - far more complex and interesting than your average New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. If you’re doing any Asian influenced cooking at home, this is a great pairing.
2 x Nero d’Avola, Contrade Bellusa, Organic, Terre Siciliane IGT 2018
Rich & ruby red in colour. Juicy jam in flavour and subtle liquorice & vanilla on the finish. Great with rich spaghetti dishes.
2 x Syrah, JJ Prestige Rouge, Domaine des Jeannes 2016
A personal favourite of mine. Vibrant red and almost spicy in flavour. Great match with your Sunday roast.
2 x Estate Reserve Malbec, Finca Sophenia, Mendoza, 2018
Produced at an altitude of 4,000ft, this allows for a later ripening of the grapes - making the tannins smooth and velvety. It has a great concentration of plums and ripe cherries. Really good with a grilled steak and pepper sauce.
